Deliver the business partnership
Once you’ve signed the agreement, the partnership moves to delivery. Both parties need to contribute to managing the relationship.
What’s involved in delivery
- Project management: identify main contacts for each partner, define roles and responsibilities, agree on key dates, approval requirements, reporting requirements and escalation processes.
- Deliverables: track and deliver what’s promised including reporting on project status and due dates.
- Changes: agree and record any changes to deliverables, timelines, responsibilities, rights or benefits.
- Strong communication: agree on when and how often you’ll communicate. Be clear, timely, honest and proactive. Tell partners early if there’s a problem. Don’t wait until reporting time.
Nurture the relationship
The delivery stage is an opportunity to deepen the relationship and build the connection with your business partner. For example, you could:
- hold regular relationship check-ins between key people from both organisations
- share good news or media coverage
- provide photos, stories or audience feedback
- acknowledge staff or client participation
- offer a short debrief after major activities.
Renew, revise or conclude a business partnership
