Welcoming appointments to the Music Australia Council

Supporting and promoting the Australian contemporary music industry.

Adrian Collette AM, Chief Executive Officer of soon to be Creative Australia, has welcomed the appointments announced today by the Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for the Arts, to the Music Australia Council. These appointments take effect on Thursday 24 August 2023.

The appointments are:

  • Fred Alale AM
  • Lisa Baker
  • Fred Leone
  • Danielle Caruana
  • Petrina Convey

Adrian Collette AM, CEO of Creative Australia, and chairperson of the Music Australia Council said: “Music Australia will support and promote the Australian contemporary music industry to increase discoverability and develop markets and audiences. It will invest to stimulate a vibrant and sustainable music industry ecosystem in which artists can thrive.

“I am honoured to be chairing the Music Australia Council, which brings together an incredibly experienced and diverse group of artists and industry professionals, who are acutely aware of the ongoing disruptions and challenges across the industry. They will provide expert advice as we build the Music Australia strategy from supporting grass roots talent to building local and international opportunities.”

Music Australia, an initiative of the Australian Government’s National Cultural Policy: Revive, is being established within Creative Australia. The Music Australia Council will provide strategic advice and recommendations regarding the priority investment, development, and research needs of the contemporary music industry in Australia.
