Jul 02, 2026

Creative Australia has announced the latest recipients of investment through its national touring programs, Playing Australia and the Contemporary Music Touring Program (CMTP), supporting artists and organisations to bring live performance to audiences across the country.

The investment will support tours reaching audiences of all ages, while strengthening connections between artists, presenters and communities nationwide.

A total of 24 projects will be supported through the Contemporary Music Touring Program, enabling Australian musicians to take their original music to 116 locations across the country. This bumper round has been supported by additional investment from Music Australia.

Among the highlights, Arnhem Land-based artist Ngulmiya will undertake his first national tour with Catalunya, a collaboration with Spanish guitarist Pau Figueres developed over two years between Barcelona and Numbulwar.

Through Playing Australia, seven touring performing arts organisations will deliver live performance, including theatre, circus and dance, to communities nationwide. Among the highlights:

  • Flipside Circus will tour the award-winning circus production We Live Here and deliver residencies with key national youth circus partners, promoting artistic experimentation in circus while supporting a dynamic and sustainable youth arts sector
  • Arts on Tour will bring The Listies’ new live work for “kidults”, This Show is a Joke!, to regional audiences, inviting many children to experience theatre for the first time. Touted as anarchic, joyful and interactive, the production is expected to reach more than 8,000 people.
  • ROOKE Productions will tour its critically acclaimed contemporary circus work Nimble to 23 regional and remote communities across South Australia, the Northern Territory, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.

Executive Director Arts Investment Alice Nash said:

“Touring helps Australian stories, songs and performances reach audiences wherever they are, creating shared experiences in communities across the country. This investment supports artists and organisations to take music, theatre, dance and circus to more places, including regional and remote communities, while strengthening the touring networks that make this possible.”
